The photos are of the front and back of the bag. It was inspired from a tote class some quilting friends did over the weekend. The pattern is called Button It Up! from Patti D. Designs. We picked it up at PIQF in October. The bag the designer did was using a Paris fabric but, I went another directions since I love purple and bright colors. It measures: approximately: 17x13x5. I also modified the straps adding a binding and widening them from the original design. My friend, Melodee Wade a long arm quilter showed me how.
I am sharing with you as this quilt transforms. Today I am sharing the addition of applique. I have a few more ideas that will be inserted on the quilt.
I went everyday except one. It's always fun to catch up with friends you haven't seen to find out their latest projects too. Saturday, I also took class with Rose Hughes from Ravenspeak Quilts. Had a lot of fun and now in the process of completing my masterpiece. :-) I'm attaching the work in progress and will be adding embellishments & applique work to it over the next week or so.

I wish I could have taken more classes, but I'm learning that sometimes less is more. I was so exhausted after all the creative juices were flowing on Saturday I crashed at 8 PM. That's heck of early for me. Although I made up for it on Sunday. :-)
Not that I haven't been working on things. This is one of the latest quilts I have completed. It's a OBW- One Block Wonder. I used Maxine Rosenthal's book. I will probably do another one using some of the other techniques for cubes and border adaptations.

I am also attaching the fabric I used.

This quilt is still on my design wall I adopted the Kool Kaleidscope Quilt from Ricky Tims. It really came together quite easy. Now time for sewing it all. More to come soon.
Today, I had a class with Jill Schumacher AKA Quiltmaker to the Queen at Always Quilting in San Mateo. Jill is very inspiring and patient. While I have been practicing learning this technique for a while today it set in. Now, I knew how important marking was but, today it sunk in. Yes, tedious but, the results are worth it. Below is my practice piece. Nope, not perfect, still have alot of practicing to do. If you're not familiar with Jill, here's her website and there's a calendar of class locations. I'm think Trapunto will be something I'll have to try next from her.
